Coalisland Clonoe Comhaltas NotesFianna 17 Session

Sessions were held in Derrytresk GAC in December and O’Neill’s Dog House in January.  Both Sessions were extremely entertaining.  There was a great turnout from our younger musicians at the Derrytresk Session who are extremely talented and were able to join in with the more experienced musicians who were there in strong numbers. Thanks to Derrytresk GAC for hosting our musicians and providing the supper.  The January Session in O’Neill’s Dog House is a favourite venue for our regular members and is always an entertaining night.  This one was no different and we would like thank the O’Neill Family for their hospitality and to our Spanish friends who return every year.  Our next Session will be in Coalisland Fianna GFC on Friday 3 February at 9.30pm.

The music classes are continuing at St Patrick’s P.S. Annaghmore and we’re happy to say attendance is great with progress even better.  As we get ready for our St Patrick’s Concert on Sunday 12 March in St Joseph’s High School, Coalisland attendance and practice is of paramount importance.  Unfortunately Caolan Hendron was not able to return to tutoring this term due to heavy work commitments.  Caolan was only with us for a short time but he made a great impression with everyone and we’re sure he will be back with us again in the future.  We wish him all the best and look forward to seeing him at the Concert.  His replacement is Aislinn Fegan who comes with a very impressive CV and will make a great contribution to our classes.  We are delighted to have Aislinn onboard and are sure she will receive a warm welcome from everybody.  Our Group Classes which started before Christmas continue 7-8pm on Wednesdays with Aoibheann and Michael.  There will be additional practices every other Sunday in St Joseph’s College from now until Easter and they will take place every Sunday after Easter.  There will also be a practice and pizza night before our Monthly Sessions.  All members of the Group are expected to attend these practices.

The Tyrone County Fleadh will be hosted by Clogher Valley CCÉ in Ballygawley on 23-25 June 2017.  The Ulster Fleadh will be hosted by Ards CCé in Bangor on 16-23 July 2017.  We wish both Branches all the very best of good luck with their endeavours in staging two great events.  Coalisland Clonoe Comhaltas will again stage their Spring Feile in 2017.  We are currently confirming dates and artists to take part and are very excited about staging another great Community event.  Keep an eye on social media and newspapers for updates.

We extend our sympathies to the family of Michael Coney on the death of his grandmother, Susie and to Sean & Cassie Campbell on the death of Cassie’s brother John Devlin.  Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí dó.
