Aaron McSorley – Tutor

Aaron began mandolin lessons with Mark Moghan aged 7 in which he developed his distinctive style and musical flare. He then progressed to the banjo at age 8 and won his first All-Ireland title in 1990 aged 9 on the banjo in Clonmel, Co.  Tipperary. This success continued down through the years, competing in Fleadh competitions at county, Ulster and All-Ireland heats, winning 1st , 2nd and 3rd on banjo, mandolin and banjo-mandolin.

He has been a member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann for over 20 years, playing at concerts and sessions in local communities with family members.Traditional music has been an integral part of Aaron’s upbringing, gaining musical inspiration from his parents and grand-parents.

Currently Aaron is playing in a trad-folk band ‘Chasin’ Hooley’ which he enjoys as he is sharing his passion for traditional music. This band has graced many stages across Ireland, England, Italy and France.
